The Helping Hands Trust was delighted to support two children at the Shaftesbury Dance School in Congleton after their situation was brought to our attention by their teacher at the School. Shaftesbury Dance School provides a variety of classes that cater for children of all abilities, needs and backgrounds and are designed to allow the children to express themselves through music. The School believes that dancing helps the children to listen and learn individually as well as part of a team and this approach builds the children’s self-confidence and carries over into other areas of their lives.
The children that the Trust has sponsored, Owen & Annie, are both from challenging backgrounds and although they found the classes rewarding and hugely enjoyable, their parents were unable to support them financially throughout the term. The Helping Hands Trust was able to step in and provide funding for the kids to complete their courses and their examinations. On 17th April Owen gained was “Highly Commended” following his freestyle solo exam. Annie achieved proficiencies in both the Slow Waltz and the Rumba on 5th May. Owen wrote the following thank you letter to the Trust:
“I want to say a huge thank you for sponsoring me, both my Mum and me are so grateful to you for giving me the chance to carry on doing something that I love. Mum has been on an extremely tight budget where money is concerned and this sponsorship has relieved her of a lot of stress. Once again THANK YOU SO MUCH!”
From all at the Trust – you’re welcome, Owen & Annie!
